Moderate to severe occlusal discrepancies and dentofacial deformities in late adolecents and adults usually require combined orthodontic treatment and orthognathic surgery to obtain optimal, stable, functional and esthetic results.
The 25-year old female has applied to our clinic due to chewing problems. According to the clinical and radiographic evaluation of the patient, maxillary and mandibular transverse deficiencies was inspected. The treatment plan was to perform fixed orthodontic treatment combined with mandibular symphyseal distraction osteogenesis and surgically assisted rapid maxillary expansion surgeries. After these surgeries for aesthetic reasons we performed genioplasty and rhinoplasty. The treatment was completed successfully and no relapse was found after a long term of follow up..

Geç adölesan ve erişkinlerde, istikrarlı, fonksiyonel, optimal ve estetik tedavi sonuçları elde edebilmek için, orta veya şiddetli okluzal uyumsuzlukların ve dentofasiyal deformitelerin tedavisinde genellikle ortodontik tedavi ile desteklenmiş ortognatik cerrahi işlemleri gerekmektedir. Yirmi beş yaşındaki bayan hasta çiğneme şikâyeti ile kliniğimize başvurmuştur. Hastanın yapılan klinik ve radyografik muayenesinde maksiller ve mandibuler transvers yön yetersizlikleri tespit edilmiştir. Tedavi planı olarak sabit ortodontik tedavi ile desteklenmiş cerrahi destekli hızlı maksiller genişletme ve mandibuler simfizis distraksiyon osteogenezisi operasyonları planlanmıştır. Estetik sebeplerden dolayı bu işlemler sonrasında genioplasti ve rhinoplasti işlemleri de yapılmıştır. Tedavi başarılı bir şekilde tamamlanmış ve uzun dönmeli takipte nüks görülmemiştir.
