Abstract (2. Language):
Chronic suppurative otitis media is one of the most common chronic infections in especially developing countries worldwide. There are, however, very
few studies performed about the prevalence of this disease in Turkey. In this
study a total of 4300 recruits all with an age of 20 years were examined.
The prevalence of chronic suppurative otitis media was found as 3.1%. A
total of 134 recruits (3.1%) had perforation of the tympanic membrane.
Various attic changes such as retraction pouch were found in 27 recruits
(0.6%) and myringosclerosis in 230 recruits (5.3%). Cholesteatoma was
not seen in any ears.

Toplam 134 olguda (%3.1)
kulak zarında perforasyon vardı. Retraksiyon cebi gibi attik değişiklikleri 27
(%0.6) olguda ve miringosklerozis 230 (%5.3) olguda gözlendi. Hiçbir kulakta kolesteatom bulgusuna rastlanmadı.
