From the early 1970s up to now advanced many sensor data have been commonly used with a view to collect information and produce various thematic maps in large areas. Prospective users of maps and data derived from remotely sensed images quite naturally ask about the accuracy of the information they will use. However, questions concerning the accuracy are surprisingly difficult to reply in a convincing manner. In this paper, how accuracy assessment of a map or a classified image derived from remote sensing data according to different accuracy assessment methods was explained with a sample application.

1970'Ii yıllardan günümüze, geliştirilmiş çok sayıda algılayıcı verisi, geniş alanlara yönelik bilgi toplama ve çeşitli konusal haritaların üretilmesinde yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Uzaktan algılanmış görüntülerden elde edilen veri ve haritaların kullanıcıları, doğal olarak kullanacakları bilginin doğruluğunu sorgular. Ancak, doğruluk ile ilgili soruları, ikna edici bir tarzda yanıtlamak oldukça güçtür. Bu makalede, uzaktan algılama verilerinden elde edilmiş bir harita veya sınıflandırılmış bir görüntünün doğruluğunun farklı doğruluk değerlendirme yöntemlerine göre nasıl belirlendiği, bir örnek üzerinde uygulamalı olarak anlatılmıştır.
