Abstract (2. Language):
The prevalence of obesity all over the world is rapidly increasing in adulthood, as well as in childhood. As obesity is a complex dis¬ease, no single primary/secondary intervention is effective in pre¬venting obesity. Three main topics may help health professionals: preventing excess weight gain, defining excess weight and relat¬ed health risks, intervention by education and recommendations. It is important to prefer foods with lower glycemic index. Decreasing the time spent on television/computer (less than 2 hours daily), getting optimal sleep duration (8 hours and over daily) and reaching the school on foot or by riding a bicycle, rather than taking public transportation or a private car are some of the healthy the life-style interventions.
