Abstract (2. Language):
Today exercise is used in most of the cardiovasculer rehabilitation units. The positive effect of exercise in preventing cardiovasculer disease is believed to be due to the increase in plasma HDL levels. Vitamin C was reported by some authors as an agent which increses the plasma HDL levels. However there are only a few investigations on this issue in the literature. The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate the effects of exercise and vitamin C on plasma lipid levels. The subjects consists of thes study were 9 active sportsmen with the average age of 22.1 years. All the subjects exercised for one hour on a cycle ergometer at an intensity of individual (% 75 max VO2 level) and blood samples were obtained before and just after the acute exercise. Subjects were given with vitamin C (2 gr. per day) for three months and same procedures were repeated. As a result plasma total cholesterol (TC) and high dansity lipoprotein HDL levels increased due to the acute exercise. After loading with vitamin C significant increase was observed only in the plasma HDL level (p<0.05). Trigliserid (TG), TC, HDL, very low dansity lipoprotein (VLDL) levels were found to be increased in the C vitamin loaded group following the acute exercise (p<0.05). No significant difference was observed between the two groups following the acute exercisein terms of blood lipids parameters
