Abstract (2. Language):
In this study, in order to be able to determine the factors that effect course performances of students, a factor analysis is carried out on the survey data obtained from the students of both state and private universities. As a multivariate dimension reduction technique, factor analysis determines the factors for finding out and summarizing the covariance structure among the original variables (observable variables) on the basis of artificial variables which are in the basis structure of the system but can not be observed. As is well known, these artificial variables are also called factors. Also, various statistical techniques are carried out on these data to compare the state and private universities with respect to the factors that effect their performances.

Özel ve devlet üniversitelerindeki öğrencilerin başarılarını etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılan bu çalışmada öğrencilerin başarılarım etkileyen birçok kriter ele alınmıştır. İlişkili olan değişkenleri bir araya getirerek gözlemlenemeyen faktörleri ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlayan bir boyut indirgeme yöntemi olan faktör analizi ile başarıyı etkileyen önemli faktörler belirlenmiş ve daha sonra devlet ve özel üniversitelerde öğrencilerin başarılarını etkileyen faktörler arasında farklılık olup olmadığı incelenmiş, demografik özelliklerin başarıyı etkileyip etkilemediği ki kare bağımsızlık testleri ile araştırılmıştır.
