Abstract (2. Language):
In this study, it has been aimed to determine the language proficiency perceptions of preparatory students
taking courses in French at higher education institutions concerning the four fundamental language skills for
language levels up to and including B1, proposed by the European Language Portfolio. Accordingly, French
Language Proficiency Perceptions Scale, consisting of 28 articles within the Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages into consideration has been prepared. The sample for this study consists of a total of
250 preparatory year students in Marmara University during the spring semester of 2012-2013 educational
year. As a result of the validity and reliability works performed, the scale was determined to be valid and
