Abstract (2. Language):
In recent years, the role of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the growth process of developing countries has attracted a great deal of attention. Economic benefits of FDI towards developing countries are considered to be two fold: First, FDI can help countries if domestic savings are insufficient to finance economic expansion; secondly it is associated with positive externalities, which contributes to their economic development. One of the main aims of the liberalization process of Turkish economy is to benefit more from the foreign direct investment in the economic development process. The objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of foreign direct investment in Turkey on economic growth from a comparative perspective. The methodology applied in this paper is panel data regression analysis. The results from this study indicate that FDI in Turkey has a positive impact on economic growth.
