YENİ KEYNESGİL İKTİSAT VE POST-KEYNESGİL İKTİSAT: GÜNÜMÜZ İÇİN GEÇERLİLİKLERİ

NEW KEYNESIAN ECONOMICS AND POST-KEYNESIAN ECONOMICS: THEIR VALIDITY

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
New Keynesian Economics which is the mainstream in the USA and Post-Keynesian Economics in UK, are both using the Keynesian System as their basis. They both envision the economy as settling at a point less-than full-equilibrium in the short-run when left to itself. Even though the most of the New Keynesian Economists accept the rational expectations hypothesis, they refuse the perfect competition conditions and perfect elasticity of prices and wage. Hence the imperfect competition and the rigidities of prices and wages will result in Keynesian lack-of effective demand as well as coordination failure in the market. Apart from a few New Keynesian economists who work with Hysteresis and Efficiency Wage models, following the Neo-Keynesian economists, they suggest that the economy will tend towards automatic natural-rate-of-unemployment equilibrium in the long-run. Post-Keynesian economists work with more realistic assumptions compared to New Keynesians. That is the reason why the Post-Keynesian Economics is being the most realistic school of economics among the new schools - including Monetarism and New Classical Economics- and considered to be more akin to the Keynesian System. New Keynesian and Post-Keynesian Economics, both providing the consistency between the micro- and macro-analysis, seem to be more realistic and valid for he developing countries. Today, the New Keynesian Economics seems to be more widespread compared to Post-Keynesian Economics.
