Abstract (2. Language):
The education of the gifted must be designed in the way most appropriate to satisfy the educational needs of gifted students. This is possible via approaches which engage students actively in the learning environment and provide firsthand experience. With students who were attending the Isparta Science and Art Center during the 2010- 2011 academic year, the topic Renewable Energy Resources (RES) was covered via a field trip based on the constructivist approach. The field trip was made to the Research and Application Center for Renewable Energy Resources (RACRER) at the Suleyman Demirel University. In this study which was designed as single group pre-test post-test experimental design, the data collection tools were the Renewable Energy Knowledge Test (REKT), the Field Trip Attitude Scale (FTAS), the Energy Attitude Scale (EAS), and the Environment Attitude Scale (EnAS), and the observations made by the researcher and an educator were used to support the quantitative findings. As for results, a significant increase was observed in the post-test points of students in their RES topic knowledge levels and their energy and environment attitudes. In addition, the observations revealed that the students eagerly participated in the activities and made specific recommendations about the applications of renewable energy resources particularly during the elaboration stage..
