Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance of the varieties of ecological tourism that has progressed substantially in terms of sustainability. With its economic and social benefits tourism sector has become a great potential today and a fierce competition between countries has begun to receive the largest share of this potential. Taking advantage of the sea has been the most significant tool in this competition to develop coastal tourism. In this process, Turkey, which has made great investment in tourism, has gone through a rapid and unplanned growth of tourism due to the sea-sand-sun trilogy. Accordingly, accommodational capacity of coastal living got full. As a consequence, resorting to alternative tourism fields has been an obligation, and ecological tourism has become a necessity. However, the sustainability of ecological tourism has been the most crucial problem that has been encountered since the applications started. For this purpose in this study, the concepts of ecological tourism and sustainability will be defined; the general characteristics of ecotourism and sustainable tourism, and potential environmental impacts associated with development will be indicated. In conclusion, this study is considered to increase the awareness on this issue, which stresses the idea that any touristic activity which has no sign of sustainability will by no means last long.

Bu çalışma, son zamanlarda büyük gelişme gösteren ekolojik turizm çeşitlerinin sürdürülebilirlik açısından önemini vurgulamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Turizm sektörü, günümüzde ekonomik ve sosyal getirileriyle büyük bir potansiyel haline gelmiş ve bu potansiyelden en büyük payı almak için ülkeler arasında kıyasıya bir yarış başlamıştır. Bu yarışta en önemli araç, denizi kullanarak kıyı turizmini geliştirmek olmuştur. Bu süreçte, turizme büyük yatırımlar yapan Türkiye, deniz-kum-güneş üçlemesi ile hızlı ve plansız bir turizm gelişimi yaşamış ve kıyıların taşıma kapasitesi dolmuştur. Sonuçta alternatif turizm alanlarına yönelmek bir zorunluluk olmuş ve ekolojik turizm gereklilik halini almıştır. Ancak, uygulamalar başladığında karşılaşılan en önemli sorun, onun da sürdürülebilirliği olmuştur. Bu amaçla çalışmada; ekolojik turizm ve sürdürülebilirlik kavramları tanımlanarak, ekoturizm ve sürdürülebilir turizmin genel özellikleri, buna bağlı gelişen ve olası çevresel etkileri belirtilmektedir. Sürdürülebilir nitelik taşımayan hiçbir turistik eylemin uzun süreli olamayacağını vurgulayan bu çalışmanın, bu konudaki bilinci arttıracağı düşünülmektedir.
