Abstract (2. Language):
Mycorrhiza is a mutualistic relationship based on the symbiosis between fungal mycelium and plant roots. In this association, the fungus gains carbon and other essential organic substances from the tree and in return helps the trees take up water, mineral salts and metabolites. Ectomycorrhiza is an important type of mycorrhiza in agriculture and forestry. Ectomycorrhizal fungi are, economically, one of the most important groups of fungi. In many ecosystems, they are the most important members of microbial biomass in the soil. In this review, description of ectomycorrhiza, factors affecting ectomycorrhiza and their importance for agriculture and forestry have been discussed.
