Oral region is the prominent site to diagnose various systemic diseases. A broad spectrum ol" diseases and lesions which are located in the gingiva have an important diagnostic value, the aim of this study is to point out the large spectrum of entities oceuring tu tlic gingiva. For this purpose, the archieves between the years ol' 1990-1997 of sis pathology departments in Ankara have been searched. During the period of eight years total number of oral biopsies were 8532 and 1227 of the total biopsies were located m the gingival region which comprised 14.4 % of all recorded oral specimens. Cases were classified on the basis of their histopathological diagnosis, age, sc* and frequency.

Oral kavile pek çok ststcmik hastalığın ilk belirtisinin görüldüğü önemli bir bölgedir. Bunların içerisinde dişetinde bulunan lezyon ve hasLalıklür belirli bir yer UıL-maktadır, Çalışmanın amacı dişetinde görülen vc geniş bir yelpa/.e oluşturan lezyonların bölgemizdeki dağılımına ait veri tabam oluşturmaktır. Bu amaçla, Ankara' da bulunan toplam dt] üniversite vc devlet hastanesinin patoloji bölümlerinde 1990-1997 yıllarım kapsayan arşiv taraması yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda sekiz yıl içerisinde toplam 8532 adet oral biyopsiye tanı verildiği, bunların 1227 adetinin (%J4.4) dişeti yerleşimli lejyonlar olduğu tespit edilmiştir, Vakalar histopatolojık tanıları, cinsiyet, yaş, gorilime sıklıkları gibi özelliklerine göre sınıflandırılmıştır
