Abstract (2. Language):
In this study, it was aimed to determine probable structural changes that may occur during gestation by researching the adrenal cortices of guinea pigs in different gestational periods. For this aim the adrenal cortices of the animals at day 35 and day 60 of gestation were compared with both tho.se of nonpregnants and each other morphomclneally and light-microscopically. The adrenal glands of pregnants were bigger than those of nonpregnants macroscopicallv- On the preparations, it was observed that this getting large was particularly at cortex. The thicknesses of total coitcs and /.»mı glomerulosa (ZG) and combined thickness of zonae fascieulata and reticularis (ZF+ZR) were increased in all pregnant animals compared to those of nonpregnants (p<0,05). In comparison with controls, the number of inner ZF- and outer ZR-cells of animals at day 35 of gestation were less (p<0,05). In the pregnants at day 60 of gestation, the cell counts per unit area of all cortical layers were more than in other two groups (p<0,05). In pregnants. adrenal capsule's deep part adjacent to ZG was with more cells than in controls; in ZG and outer ZF of pregnants, more mitotic figures were observed than in those of controls. Particularly in the pregnants al day 60 of gestation, the transition zone between ZG and ZF had much more cells, and the nuclei of ZG- and outer ZF-cells were bigger than in nonpregnants. The intracytoplasnnc large lipid vacuoles which are found in outer ZF normally were seen in inner ZF- and outer ZR-cells of pregnants also; in the pregnants at day 35 of gestation, these cells were full of large lipid vacuoles; but in the pregnants al day 60 of gestation, these lipid vacuoles were less and smaller compared with those of the other pregnant group. Apart from these, more hpofusein pigment granules were observed in deeper cortical cells of pregnants than m those of controls. In conclusion, it was thoughl thai the reason of structural changes occurmg in the adrenal cortex of pregnants may be the stimulation of adrenal cortex by adrenocorticotropic hormone released from pSacenta and excessively Trom hypophysis and/or adrenal gland by means of increased estrogen hormone in pregnancy.
Abstract (Original Language):
Bunların yanı sıra, gebelerin derin koıteks hücrelerinde daha fazla lipofussin pigment granüllen i/.lendi. Sonuç olaısk, gebe kobayların adrenal korteksinde saptanan bu değişikliklerin, gebelikte yükselen ostrojen hormonunun etkisiyle hipofizden vc/veya adrenal bezden salgılanması artan ve aynı zamanda plasentadan du salgılanan adrenokorlikotrop hormonun adrenal koıteksı uyarmasından kaynaklandığı düşünüldü.
