PERIFERAL OSSİFİYE FİBROMA: BİR OLGU BİLDİRİSİ

PERIPHERAL OSSIFYING FIBROMA: A CASE REPORT

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a non-ncoplastic enlargement of the gingiva that is classified as a reactive hyperplastic inflammatory lesion. It is possible to misdiagnose POF as pyogenic granuloma, peripheral giant cell granuloma, or odontogenic tumors. Because of the tendency to recur of POF, differential diagnosis hag great importance. To minimize the reappearance of this lesion, it must be completely excised. In this case, a POF was excised from the gingiva facial to a maxillary lateral incisor down to bone. The resulting gingival defect was repaired by a distinct plastic surgery procedure, including a subepithelial connective tissue graft and a lateral!}' positioned pedicle graft. The defect resulting from the biopsy was satisfactorily repaired. The patient was fallowed over postsurgical intervals of 1 to 6 months. The lesion did not recur. ll is customary to manage POF by aggressive cAcisional biopsy. Several different surgical approaches may potentially be used to repair the resultant gingival defect and minimize patient esthetic concerns.
