Abstract (2. Language):
Talon cusp is an uncommon dental anomaly referring to an accessory cusplike structure projecting from the cingulum area or cementoenamel junction of the maxillary or mandibular anterior teeth. Dens invaginatus is a developmental anomaly resulting from an invagination of the enamel organ into the dental papil. A talon cusp was detected on the maxillary left central incisor of an 11-year-old male who was referred to Department of Pediatric Dentistry for intraoral examination. During the clinical examination, a talon cusp was noted on the maxillary left lateral incisor. Radiographic examination also revealed a dens invaginatus on the affected tooth. Within the scope of the fact that dental anomalies could be of genetic origin, clinical and radiographical examinations of the patient's family were also carried out. A talon cusp was observed on the maxillary left lateral incisor of the patient's father clinically. Besides, dens invaginatus affecting all maxillary incisors and an impacted maxillary canine were detected radiographically. Since the talon cusp of the child did not irritate the tongue during speech and mastication and interfere with occlusion, no treatment except for sealing of the developmental grooves in order to prevent caries development was performed.
