Abstract (2. Language):
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate apical microleakages that occur as a result of filling the root canals shaped by Self-Adjusting File (SAF; ReDent- Nova, Ra’anana, Israel) and Profile (Dentsply Tulsa Dental, Tulsa,OK, USA) file systems with the lateral condensation technique. Material and Method: In the study, 48 single rooted premolar teeth, extracted because of periodontal and orthodontics reasons, were used. Teeth were separated into two groups (n=20) after the dental crowns were removed from the cementho enamel junction. While the first group of teeth was shaped with SAF, the second group of teeth was shaped with Profile file system. Eight teeth were used as control groups Root canals were irrigated with used 2,5% NaOCl and 17% EDTA. Then, root canals were filled with gutta-percha and AH plus (Dentsply DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany) sealar by using lateral condensation technique. Root surfaces were maintained in 2% methylene blue for 48 hours after roots were covered in two layers with natural nail polish, except only 1 mm part in the apex,. The roots were longitudinally separated into two parts in buccolingual direction after dye and nail polish residues were removed from the samples, and examined under stereomicroscope. Results: The statistical evaluation of the groups was estimated with Mann-Whitney U test. No statistical significance was found between the groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The extensions of root canals by using both SAF and profile file systems in the root filled with lateral condensation technique produce successful outcomes in terms of apical microleakage.
