Abstract (2. Language):
Antibacterial effectiveness of four disinfectants (sodi um hypochl ori te, glutaraldehyde, chl orhexi dı ne gluconate and povidone iodine) on the irreversible hydrocolloid impressions are evaluated in this study. A sterile metal model of an maxillary arch contaminated with one of the following bacteria; Staphylococcus aureus. Bacillus subtjlis. Streptococcus mutans, Escherichia coli, and impressions were made. The impresions were cultured before and after immersion in one of the above mentioned disinfectants for 10 minutes. Colony forming units were counted. Sodium hypochlorite 5,0 % was found more effective than the three other agents against all test organisms
