Abstract (2. Language):
Obtaining predictable root coverage has become an important part of periodontal therapy. The purpose of this study was to compare two techniques of obtaining root coverage. The two techniques were connective tissue with partial thickness double pedicle graft and guided tissue regeneration with a bioabsorbable collagen barrier membrane. The connective tissue with partial-thickness double pedicle graft had a mean of root coverage of 53.6 % and guided tissue regeneration procedure produced a mean root coverage of 44.3 %. This difference was not statistically significant. Pocket depth was slightly reduced in connective tissue with partial-thickness double pedicle graft and guided tissue regeneration with a bioabsorbable collagen membrane, respectively 0.7 mm and 0.4 mm. The connective tissue with partial-thickness double pedicle graft produced a 1.3 mm increase in keratinized tissue, while the guided tissue regeneration technique resulted in a 0.5 mm decrease in keratinized tissue. This difference is not statistically significant. The mean reduction in sensivity was not statitistically different. The results of this study demonstrate that root coverage is possible with both procedures.
