Numerous developments and changes have taken place in distance education from its early years to present.
Without doubt, the most important one is using the latest web technologies. With the development of web technologies,
lecture contents are diversified, flexible education independent of time and place is achieved. In this way, limitations of
formal education are overcome with the aim of enhancing the interaction between educator-student. For this purpose,
3D modeling is used by web based distance education. In this study, the fundamentals regarding distance education and
3D technologies used on the web have been presented. Within the context of life-long learning program, 3D web
technologies are proposed to be used in distance education

Geçmişten günümüze uzaktan eğitimde birçok bakımdan gelişim ve değişim görülmüştür. Şüphesiz ki bunların
en önemlisi yeni web teknolojilerin kullanılmasıdır. Web teknolojilerin gelişimi ile ders içerikleri zenginleştirilmiş,
zaman ve mekândan bağımsız bir eğitim sağlanmıştır. Böylece örgün eğitimdeki kısıtlamalar aşılmış ve eğitimci-
öğrenci arasındaki etkileşimin artırılması hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaçla web tabanlı uzaktan eğitimde üç boyutlu
modelleme kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, uzaktan eğitim ve web üzerinde kullanılan üç boyutlu teknolojiler hakkında
temel bilgiler verilmiştir. Hayat boyu öğrenme programı kapsamında uzaktan eğitimde üç boyutlu web teknolojilerinin
kullanımı önerilmiştir.
