Abstract (2. Language):
Technologic accumulation and economic development caused to instutional and
cultural changing process, which has been called modernization, at 17. century in Europe.
Modernization, has formed new way of life and social structure that effect all over the
world. To become modern, it mean that not concerning to ancient and different from
ancient.
Modernization has been unable to fulfill its mission and solve its problems due to
some reasons after II. World War. So, some intellectuals has attempted to new way of
searching. At the end, postmodern situation has emerged and it accepted plüralism,
localization and liberty instead of totalitarian philosophy, monopolisation of scientific
information of modern view.
Postmodernism is struggle to dilemma of modernism and it is alternative of
modernism. According to postmodernists, postmodernism describes today’s developed
western societies and defines post modern society.

Avrupa’da 17. yüzyılda meydana gelen teknolojik birikim ve ekonomik büyüme,
toplumları, adına modernleşme denilen kurumsal ve kültürel bir değişim sürecine soktu. Bu
olgu, etkileri dünya çapında görülen yeni bir hayat tarzı ve sosyal örgütlenme biçimi
meydana getirdi. “Modern” olmak, artık düne ait olmayan ve eskisinden farklı yöntemlerle
ele alınması gereken bir dünyada yaşamak demektir.
Özellikle İkinci Dünya savaşından sonra ortaya çıkan toplumsal sorunlar ve
modernizmin çeşitli sebeplerden dolayı vaatlerini gerçekleştirememesi aydınların bir
kısmını yeni arayışlara sürükledi. Sonuçta, modernitenin total felsefesine ve bilimsel bilgi
tekeline karşı çoğulculuğu, yerelliği ve özgürleşmeyi ön plana çıkaran postmodern durum
ortaya çıktı.
Genel çerçevesiyle postmodernizm, modernliğin açmazlarına karşı bir savaşım ve
modernleşmeyle bir hesaplaşmadır. Postmodernistlere göre postmodernizm, ileri batı
toplumlarının şu an içinde bulunduğu aşamayı, bir bakıma modern sonrası toplumu
adlandırır.
