Positive effects of global climate change and the assessment in adaptation to climate change

Abstract (2. Language):
In the last few decades, the global climate change (GCC) is a topic, which has occupied the world‟s attention. The climate change has serious impacts on all aspects of the life (i.e. ecology, health, energy, global economy etc.). That is why the scientists in different disciplines, politicians, the experts of various fields, and non-governmental organizations are interested in this issue. It is possible to say today that fighting against the problem and its expected consequences are vitally required. Kyoto Protocol (KP), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), International Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) and many scientific researches try to determine, project and model of the global climate change and its expected results are performed due to such a reflex. All strives have the goal to prevent the global climate change or to propose any adaptation ways. It is almost clear that it is impossible to prevent completely the new climate conditions in the short term. The researchers indicate that the human will be unsuccessful in their strives on decreasing the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. At least the success will take a long time. It is stated that decades are required to reduce the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere. Also Ralston (2012) says that carbon dioxide is released once more into the atmosphere, it remains in the atmosphere for 100 years. Victor et al. (2009) indicates that to keep global warming constant with its current situation, 60-80% of the emissions should be reduced. On the other hand, Urpelain (2012) argues that the humanity failed in deciding on reducing the carbon emissions. In this case, it is possible to say that the human has no reliable, applicable, and sustainable ways against global climate change except adaptation. Adaptation can be described as the initiatives performed to be less affected from the negative effects of climate change. It is well known that the global climate change has negative effects in a region whereas it has directly or indirectly positive effects on another one. There is a lot of published study performed on negative effects of climate change in the literature. However, there are only a few works made on positive effects of climate change. One of the main aims of this study is to fulfil the lack of such studies in this field. So, the positive effects of the climate change has been researched and presented in the study for clarifying better adaptation ways. With this consideration, more published works are performed on the positive effects of global climate change. However, less published works are available about the negative effects of global climate change. In this study relevant literature are cited, abstracted, and briefly explained. Furtheremore, some strategies about adaptation to the climate change are presented. It is concluded that global climate change has several positive effects together with the negative effects on the environment. On the other hand, it is possible to convert some of the negative effects to positive results.
