Abstract (2. Language):
Identifying trends in a given time series is very important in predicting future values in water resources. Moreover, trend analysis is used to decide various design parameters based on scientific aspects and real applications everywhere in the world. On the other hand, systematically measuring and monitoring for water variables in a river is an important phase for both construction-developing projects and basin information systems. For instance, measuring of streamflow that is a critical variable has been known as an important step for energy potential of a river, water usage in drinking or irrigation, flood control and a number of other projects to be constructed or already constructed in regions. Similarly, it is important to measure the sediment amount in terms of in planning and construction. In addition, there is a relationship between sediment and discharge variables. In this context, a new trend method recently proposed by Şen is used for two variables, discharge and sediment amount, recorded at four different stations, Fatli (Kelkit creek), Durucasu (Yesilirmak river), Gomeleonu (Yesilirmak river) and Cicekbuku (Kelkit creek), selected from Yesilirmak Basin of Turkey. Afterwards, the Mann-Kendall trend test is also applied to the same data, and the results are discussed. Consequently, the proposed new method of Şen is noticed as an important advantage in terms of especially in all ranges graphically clarification of the data evaluation phase.
