Global climate change is an important issue in the agenda of the world communities since 1980s. This global problem has effects on almost all sectors of the life (i.e. economy, water resources, energy, foods etc.). So it is globally discussed with its all aspects. The fresh water amount is constant with the natural hydrological cycle. However, the world population dramatically increases. On the other hand, water consumption has become increasingly diverse. Therefore, water stress/scarcity is expected to rise sharply in numerous regions on the world. The greatest problems, those needed to be urgently solved are 1) correctly determining the water potential, 2) realistically determining the effects of global climate change on both quality and quantity of water resources, and 3) effective water use and controlling water losses in both irrigation and domestic water-distribution-networks. As well known, the groundwater and ice/snow water are the fresh water stores of the earth planet to be used during any water scarcity. With this respect, the conservation of these water resources and how much they effected by global climate change has just become more important issues. In this study, paralleling to the GCC, the temporally variation of groundwater level in Diyarbakir city center is investigated.

Küresel iklim değişikliği 1980’li yıllardan beri dünya gündemini ciddi olarak meşgul eden bir konudur. Bu küresel problem, ekonomiden su kaynaklarına, enerjiden gıdaya tüm yaşam sektörlerini ve tüm varlık ortamını olumsuz yönde etkilediği için tüm sektörleri yakından ilgilendirmektedir. Küresel düzeyde bütün yönleri ile bu denli tartışılması da bu yüzdendir. Hidrolojik çevirimde tatlı su miktarı sabit iken insan nüfusundaki artış ve teknolojiye bağlı olarak su kullanımında artan çeşitlilik dünyanın birçok bölgesini su stresi veya su kıtlığı ile karşı karşıya getirmiştir. Problemin su ile ilgili boyutunda günümüzde üç ana başlık önem kazanmaktadır: 1) su potansiyelinin doğru bir şekilde tespiti 2) küresel iklim değişikliğinin zamansal ve konumsal olarak su kaynaklarının üzerinde nitelik ve nicelik olarak etkisinin doğru bir şekilde saptanması 3) mevcut su kaynaklarının, içme/kullanma, sanayi ve sulamada efektif bir şekilde kullanımı ve kayıp ve kaçakların önlenmesi. Bilindiği üzere yer altı suları ve kar/buzul suları yerkürenin sadece kötü zamanlarda kullanılmak üzere tatlı su depolarıdır. Bu suların yine nitelik ve nicelik olarak korunması ve küresel iklim değişikliğinden ne kadar etkilendiğinin tespiti de gittikçe önem kazanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Diyarbakır kent merkezinde yer altı suyunun küresel iklim değişikliğine paralel olarak yıllara göre seviye değişimleri araştırılmıştır.
