This study examines the book metaphors in Cemil Meriç’s Bu Ülke on the basis of conceptual metaphor theory. It aims to access the conceptual realms of the author’s mind via linguistic metaphors. In this study it is emphasized that Cemil Meriç didn’t use metaphors only as a figüre of speech or a literary omament, but as an instrument to evaluate the reality in a different way, and to produce new knowledge.

Bu çalışmada kavramsal metafor teorisine dayalı bir yaklaşımla Cemil Meriç’in Bu Ülke adlı eserindeki kitap metaforları İncelenmektedir. Çalışma ile, kitaba ilişki dilsel metaforlardan hareketle yazarın kavramlar dünyasına giriş hedeflenmekte; Cemil Meriç’in metaforları yalnızca bir söz figürü, bir süs olarak değil; bilgiyi farklı bir bakış açısıyla ele alma ve bilgi üretme yolunda araç olarak kullandığı vurgulanmaktadır.
