Abstract (2. Language):
This research aims to identify prospective teachers’ views regarding the ethical and professional ethical
behaviors that teachers should possess. This study hosts a total of 140 prospective teachers who are enrolled in
pedagogical formation certificate program during the academic year of 2015 and 2016 and who are from
different majors that are subjected to teachers’ assignment such as physics (f:18), chemistry (f:25), and health
/ health services (f:45), Turkish language and literature (f:23) and religious culture and ethics (f:29). The
participants were chosen through convenient sampling method. Being a quantitative study, the study used a
written opinion form consisting of open-ended questions in order to determine prospective teachers’ views.
Content analysis was utilized in data analysis. Analyses have revealed that prospective teachers correlate
ethics with the concepts of rule, rightness-wrongness, respect, morality, honesty, universality, professional
responsibility, conscientiousness, decency and justice. It has been noted that prospective teachers mostly
associate the ethical behaviors that teachers should possess with personal traits. The most frequent unethical
events they have encountered in their student and working lives have been determined to mostly relate to
discrimination. Besides, several recommendations have been presented by prospective teachers for the
development of ethical behaviors.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının etik ve öğretmenlerin sahip olması gereken mesleki etik
davranışlar hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim döneminde pedagojik
formasyon sertifika programına kayıtlı olan öğretmen adaylarından kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi yolu ile
öğretmenlik atamasına esas olan alanlar içerisinden fizik (f:18), kimya (f:25), sağlık/sağlık hizmetleri (f:45), Türk
dili ve edebiyatı (f:23) ile din kültürü ve ahlak bilgisi (f:29) bölümlerinden toplam 140 öğretmen adayı
araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Nitel bir çalışma olan bu araştırmada, öğretmen adaylarının görüşlerini
belirleyebilmek için açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan yazılı görüş formundan yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulguların
analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının etik kavramı ile
kural, doğruluk-yanlışlık, saygı, ahlak, dürüstlük, evrensellik, mesleki sorumluluk, vicdanlı olmak, topluma
uygunluk ve adalet kavramlarını ilişkilendirdikleri görülmüştür. Öğretmenlikte olması gereken etik davranışları
daha çok kişisel özelliklerle özdeşleştiren katılımcıların öğrencilik ve çalışma hayatlarında en sık karşılaştıkları
etik dışı olaylar ayrımcılık ile ilgili olmuştur. Ayrıca öğretmen adayları etik davranışların geliştirilmesine yönelik
önerilerde bulunmuşlardır.
