Abstract (2. Language):
In this article, we will try to study the caliphate disputes after the death of the
prophet Mohammed. The first serious problem the Muslims faced after the death of the
Prophet Mohammed appeared in the field of the imamet. When the Prophet Mohammed
died, without leawing a written document behind him or without saying a clear word to the
person who will be appointed to govern the people or to the person who will be
responsible to deal with every sort of problem of Moslems. When we evaluate the matter of
Saqife as a whole it is clearly seen he has never mentioned nass and appointment in no
period of the caliphate. The caliphate disputes have been realized in the turn of tribal
understanding perspective in the social life of the Arabs.

Bu çalışmada, Hz. Muhammed’in vefatından sonraki hilafet tartışmaları ortaya konmaya
çalışılacaktır. Peygamberin vefatının ardından Müslümanların karşılaştıkları ilk ciddi
ihtilaf, imamet konusunda olmuştur. Hz. Peygamber Müslümanların her türlü işlerini yürütecek
yani devleti yönetecek kimseyi tayin eden açık bir söz söylemeden veya yazılı bir
vasîyette bulunmadan vefat etmiştir. Sakife olayı ile ilgili rivayetleri bir bütün olarak değerlendirdiğimiz
zaman, hilafetle ilgili hiçbir aşamasında, herhangi bir “nass ve tayin”
fikrine rastlanılmadığı görülmektedir. Hilafet tartışmaları, bütünüyle Araplardaki sosyal
hayatı belirleyen kabilecilik anlayışı çerçevesinde gerçekleşmiştir.
