Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of 8-week aerobic training on cardiovascular risk factors of sedantary females who did not have any hormone treatment therapy during menopause period. The average age and height of experimental group are (n=14) were 49,29±3,41 years and 153±5,53 cm. and the same values for control group (n=11) are 51,18±2,25 years and 156±3,69 cm respectively. The subjects of both groups were composed of women who did not menstruate, who did not perform any physical activities regularly, who had no special diet programs and who had no health problems preventing them from doing exercise for one year. During eight weeks, while control group was pursuing their normal life activities, experimental group participated in a 35-40-minute run-walk exercise program three times a week. The intensity of exercise was specified as 40-60% according to Karvonen Method. The resting heart rate, blood pressure, body fat percent and blood lipids of the subjects were measured one week before and after the training program. The results indicated that although there was a significant decrease in resting heart rates, systolic blood pressure body weight, body fat percentage, body mass index, total chollesterol, LDL chollesterol, triglycerides values (p<0,05), there was a significant increase in HDL chollesterol scores (p<0,05). On the other hand, estrodiol progesterone, LH and FSH levels did not change significantly (P>0.05). Consequently, the data has shown that moderate aerobic exercise programs which are carried out for a long and properly have positive effects on cardiovascular risk factors in females who are in menopause period.
