Abstract (2. Language):
Family businesses are among the most important contributors to wealth and employment issues around the world. This study aims to make conceptual explanations about the definitions of family business, their status, and their contributions to the economy in macro point of view and their weaknesses. Some success factors that influence the succession process are conceptually investigated. This study shows that succession process must be planned in detail. In the planning period, preparation level of successors and relationship between owner-manager and successor should be given a special emphasis. In the case of conflict among family members during succession process, consultancy should be accepted a key solution for problems.
