Abstract (Original Language):
The purpose of the study was to investigate the therapeutic effects of yogic practices on selected physical variables viz., Weight, B.M.I. (Body Mass Index) among essential hypertensive patients. The subjects chosen for this study were divided into experimental and control group consist of 45 samples each, both male and female patients in the age group between 40 years and 60 years with Grade - I (mild) and Grade - II (moderate) hypertensive patients. From the study, it is observed that the application of yogic practices would reduce weight in case of experimental group compared to control group and the BMI (Body Mass Index) would hold a marginal change due to yogic practices between baseline period and different phases of training and follow-up period in case of experimental group compared to control group. The findings of the study indicated that there is no improvement and the weight almost remained the same and in the experimental group the B.M.I. level decreasing due to yogic practices, but in the case of control group, it keeps increasing throughout the observation period.
