Abstract (2. Language):
The aim of this study was to investigate relationships between isokinetic paramaters and velocity variables at the different phases of 100m sprint running in the competition phase of sprinters. Thirteen male sprinters from Turkey Track&Field I. and II. Cups voluntarily participated to the study (Age: 22.2±2.7yr, Personnel best 100m result: 10.93±0.21s, Body height: 176.3±2.8cm, Body weight: 74.4±4.7kg, Training age: 4.9±2.8yr). Anthropometric measurements were applied to sprinters. Knee extensionflexion isokinetic muscle strength at different angular velocities (60, 180, and 300°.s- 1) and 100m sprint running including 10m velocity were tested in sprinters. Pearson correlation analysis was utilized for relationships between isokinetic parameters and velocity variables. V40-50m has significant positive relationship with dominant leg knee flexion torque at 600.sn-1 angular velocity (p<.05). V100m, Vmax, and other velocity variables from V0-10m to V50-60m had significant positive relationships with nondominant leg knee extension torque at 1800.sn-1 angular velocity (p<.05). Dominant knee extension torque has significant positive relationships with V0-10, V20-30m and V30-40m. Dominant knee flexion torque has significant positive relationships with V10-20m, V20-30m and V30-40m (p<.05). V100m, V20-30m, and V30-40m velocity variables have positive significant relationships with dominant knee extension and flexion torques at 3000.sn-1 angular velocity (p<.05). In conclusion, relationships between peak torques and velocity variables of 100m sprint running especially in acceleration part were increased and isokinetic peak torque was decreased when angular velocity was increased at the competition phase by elite Turkish sprinters but isokinetic strength criteria and velocity variable correlations didn’t show parallelism for dominant and non dominant leg. It was stated that detailed studies are necessary for relationship between sprint velocity variables and isokinetic strength criteria depending dominant and non dominant leg.
