Abstract (2. Language):
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of coccyx excision on patients who were resistant to conservative treatment. Materials and Methods: Thirteen patients who did not respond to conservative treatment continued longer than one year were included to the study. Coccyx excision was performed in all patients. Results: The results were excellent in eight (61%), good in three (23%), moderate in one (8%) and bad in one (8%) patient. The patient who had bad result have had an infection. She was cured with wound care and antibiotic treatment. There were no rectum perforation or prolapsus and neighter of the patients required reexcision. Conclusion: The treatment of coccydynia is mainly conservative, but coccyx excision may be an alternative treatment in patients irresponsible to conservative treatment.
