Objective: Waiting times for examination, laboratory studies and treatment of the patients applied to the emergency departments are important in view of the satisfaction obtained from the service. By this study, it is aimed to get information about the waiting times of the patients applied to the emergency department of Turgut Özal Medical Center Material and Methods: In this descriptive study, all procedures from the entrance to the service of 301 patients applied to the emergency department of Turgut Özal Medical Center between the hours 17.00-24.00 were registered to the data form by a research team between 1-31 January 1999. Results:Median duration of the contact with the physician (time interval between the entrance door and the physician's start for the anamnesis) was two minutes; median duration for stay at the emergency department (examination, laboratory studies, treatment, treatment or discharge procedures) was 60 minutes. Whole blood count, biochemistry, urinalysis, ultrasonography, ECG and computerized tomography resulted at median duration of 10, 15, 10, 20, 3, and 15 minutes respectively. Consultations were achieved in 10 to 15 minutes. Conclusions: These values can be said reasonable. In forthcoming studies, it is advised to take the opinions of the patients and their relatives.

Amaç: Acil servislere başvuran hastaların muayene, tetkik ve tedavi için bekleme süreleri alınan hizmetten tatmin açısından çok önemlidir. Bu çalışma ile Malatya Turgut Özal Tıp Merkezi Acil Servisine başvuran hastaların bekleme süreleri hakkında bilgi edinmek amaçlanmıştır. Materyal-Metod: Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki çalışmada, 1-31 Ocak 1999 tarihleri arasında Malatya Turgut Özal Tıp Merkezi Acil Servisi'ne 17.00-24.00 saatleri arasında başvuran 301 hastanın girişten servisten ayrlana kadar yaplan tüm işlemleri araştırma ekibi tarafından bilgi formuna kaydedilmiştir. Bulgular: Hekime kon takt süresi (kapıdan girişten itibaren hekim tara fından anamnezi alınmaya başlayıncaya kadar geçen süre) ortanca 2 dakika, Acil Serviste kalış süresi (muayene, tetkik, tedavi, tedavi/veya taburcu işlemleri) ise 60 dakikadır. Tam kan sayımı 10, biyokimya 15, tam idrar tahlili 10, ultrasonograf 20, EKG 3, bilgisayarı tomografi ise 15 dakika (ortanca) ile sonuçlanmaktadır. Konsültasyonlar ise 10-15 dakika içinde gerçekleştirilmektedir. Sonuç: Bu değerlerin makul olduğu söylenebilir. İleride yaplacak çalışmalarda hasta ve yakınlarının görüşlerinin alınması önerilmektedir.
