Abstract (2. Language):
Objective: We investigated the seropositivity difference of hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses in hematological^ malignant patients with history of blood and blood products transfusions. Material and methods: HBs Ag, Anti-HBs and anti-HCV antibody positivity were investigated in 35 hematologically malignant patients with history of transfusions and 52 patients without history of transfusions with EUSA in the department of Hematology. Results: Anti-HCV positivity was detected in 2.8% (n= 1) and 1.9% of patients (n= 1) with and without blood transfusion history, respectively. HBs Ag positivity was detected to be 22.8% (n= 8) in blood transfused group, and 5.7% (n= 3) in non-transfused group and 9% (n= 9) in the control group. Anti-HBs antibody positivity was detected in 31.4% of patients (n= 11) with a history of blood transfusion, 38.4% in the non-transfused group (n= 20), and 40% in the control group (n= 43). Conclusions: HBs Ag positivity was found to be significantly higher in the transfused group when compared with the non-transfused group and the control group (p<0.05).
