Abstract (2. Language):
It’s necessary, to achieve following benefits easily by variable Speed pumped storage power plant (PSP). Benefits of these plants included, as following statements: stability and balance making referred to power system request, increasment of optimum efficiency in production mode and consumption mode, high speed for grid’s requirements response in critical moments (such as: disturbances, black out,…); Todays, Doubly Fed Asynchronous Machine (DFAM) technology by means of modern equipment (Multi-Level-VSC, Cycloconvertor) and employment of them is considered to achieve mentioned purposes, synchronous machines instead in PSP units. In this paper, technical evaluation& comparison between the several types of PSP’s control methods is presented, also as novelty, a PSP’s unit is modeled (as mechanic, electric, hydraulic& control system) and simulated by Direct Torque Control (DTC) technology and TwoLevelVSC equipment. Combination of TwoLevelVSC and DTC method together caused to increase very high dynamic response of PSP in uninterrupted operation the whole of times. The results of paper in Generation mode, describe to increase efficiency in one unit of 4×250MW PSP that justifies variable Speed PSP application. The simulations performed by Matlab/Simulink& mfile. This paper extracted from thesis of MSc called “Simulation of Variable Speed Pumped Storage Power Plants”.
