Surgical access to inverted papillomas. inverted papillomas which are localised in nasal regi-on and paranasal sinuses are characterised by their benign histologİc features, locally aggressi-ve behaviour and tendency to recur unless treated properly. Whüe the aetiology is uncertain, this rare type of primary nasal tumor is considered to be a true epithelİal neoplasm. The tu-mor's local aggressiveness, high rate of recurrence, the associated danger of malignancy and mukİcenMc tend_ençj.have.le The type of surgical treatment is directly dependent on the precise evaluation of the tumor size by radiological studies. In this artİcle while evaiuating the 17 cases that we diagnosed and treated in our clinic, we present our approach to inverted papillomas under light of most recent literatüre.

Nazal ve paranazal sinüslerde lokalize olan inverted papillomlar selim histolojik bulgularına rağmen, lokal olarak agressif davranırlar ve eğer uygun tedavi edilmezler ise nüks etme eğilimleri ile karakterizedirler. Primer nazal tümörler arasında nadir görülen bu tümörler, etyolİjİ-si belli olmamakla birlikte gerçek bir epiteîyal tümör olarak kabul edilirler. Tümörün lokal olarak agressif olması, nüks etme olasılığının yüksek olması, beraberinde habaset tehlikesini taşıması ve multisentrik olma eğiliminin bulunması bir çok araştırmacı tarafından tedavisinde radikal cerrahi girişimlerin tercih edilmesine neden olmuştur. Cerrahi tedavinin tipinin seçimi tümör boyutunun görüntüleme yöntemleri ile tam olarak değerlendirilmesine bağlıdır. Biz bu yayınımızda kliniğimizde teşhis ve tedavilerini yapmış olduğumuz 17 olgumuzu değerlendirirken inverted papillomlar hakkındaki görüşlerimizi son literatürlerin ışığı altında sunuyoruz.
