Plasına nitrite/nitrate levels in patients with psoriasis. Psoriasis is a ehronic inflammatory skin disease characterised by inereased keratinocyle proiiferation, hypcrkeratinisalion, leu-cocyte hemotaxis, and neoangiogcncsts. During the different phases of the disease, many of thc eytokines and oîher inflammatory mediators derived from inflammatory cells, ineluding maerophage and T-lymphocyîes, are released. It was found that some of these eytokines inerc-ase NOS cxprcssion in human keratinoeytes, tlıereby inerease nİtric oxide levels in circtılation. inereased nitrİc oxide levels may have role in formation of inflammatory lesions, hyperkerati-nisalion, and tıeoatıgiogenesis (the main characleristics of psoriasis). Plasma nitrite/nitrate levels of 30 patients vvİth psoriasis were compared wi(h those of 20 healfhy subjects. Mean plasma nitric oxide levels in psoriatİc patients (73.9± 23.7 (mol/L) were bigher than these in cont¬rols (50.76 ± 14.37 pmol/L) (p<0.001). Therc was a significant correlation between nitric oxi-de levels and impaired body area (r=0.68; p<0.05). We coneluded that inereased nitrite/nitrate levels probably are important İn clarificaîion of etiopathogenesis of psoriasis.

Psoriasis artmış keratinosit proliferasyonıı, hiperkeratimzasyon, lökosit kcmotaksisi ve neoan-giogenez ile karakterize bir kronik enflamatuar den hastalığıdır. Hastalığın farklı dönemlerinde makrofaj ve T-Ienfos itleri gibi enflamasyon hücrelerinden birçok sİtokin ve nıediatörlcr sal-gılanmaktadır. Bazı sitokinlerin keratinosit nirİk oksit sentaz (NOS) ekspresy onunu letikleye-rek plazma nitrik oksit düzeylerini arttırdığı bulunmuştur. Artmış nitrik oksit düzeylerinin enflamatııar lezyonîarın oluşumu, hiperkeratinizasyon ve neoangiogcnczde önemli olduğu alka gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada 30 psoriasisli hastaların plazma nitrit/nitrat düzeyleri 20 sağlıklı kontrolün değerleri iie karşılaştırıldı. Psoriasisli hastanın plazma nitrit/nitrat düzeylerinin (73.9± 23.7 (mol/L) kontrollere kıyasla (50.76 ± 14.37 pmol/L) anlamlı olarak (p<0.00L) yüksek olduğu bulundu. Ayrıca nitrit/nitrat konsantrasyonu ve tutulan vücut alanı arasında anlamlı bir korelasyon saptandı {r=0.68; p<0.05). Sonuç olarak artmış plazma nitrit/nitrat düzeylerinin psoriasis etyopatojenezinin aydınlatılmasında önemli olabileceğini söyleyebiliriz.
