Abstract (2. Language): 
Results ofSurgİcal Treatmcnt for Symtomatic Synovial Cysts. Synovial eysts arise secondary to degeneration of spine through thc course of time. Eİght cases of lumbar symptomatic synovial cysts treated bctvveen January 1996-December 2001 are presenied in the sludy along witlı long term results. During examination boih root- and axial-pain level was evaluated with the visual analog sealc. Radiologica) cxaminations to evaluate disc degeneration were repealed preoperatively and postoperatively at the third month and thc second ycar and cysts vvere evalualed and graded acoording to the Thompson's disc degeneration sealc. Hemilaminectomy was preformed in fo-ur cases and lamİneclomy for two cases. Inslrumcnted lusion was performed in addition to la-mineetomy and eyst excisİon in two cases. Accordİng to our results root pain responded beter than axial pain to surgical trcatment and thewe results wcre bolh truc for the third month and second year. There is meaningfull changes on Postoperatively second year pain , there is no finding correla-tion between dejeneration and ages. Thompson disc degeneration score was significantly hig-her at the second year and no statistically significant correlation could be shown between age and değen cralion. Conclusion: İn 8 cases of synovial cysts operaled at our center root pain and axİal pain was significantly reduced at the second year follow-up. No recurrences were observed. Hovvever disc degeneration was accelerated at the operated spinal İevel.

Omurgada nadir görülen sinoviyal kistler dejcneratif sürecin bir parçasıdır. Bu çalışmada Ocak 1996-Aralık 2001 tarihleri arasında "lomber semptomatik sinoviyai kist" tanısıyla cerrahi tedavi uygulanmış 8 olgunun uzun dönem takip sonuçları sunulmaktadır. Olguların preoperatif, postopcratif 3. ay ve 2. yılda, kök ağrısı ve aksiyel ağrı şiddeti Vizüel Analog Skala'yİa yüz yüze form doldurarak sorgulandı. Radyolojik olarak preoperatif ve pos-toperatif 2. yılda Manyetik Rezonans incelemesiyle kistin olduğu seviyedeki "diskte dejenerasyon" Thompsons Disk Dejencresyon Skalası'na göre değerlendirildi. Olguların 4'üne hemi-laminektomi, 2'sinc laminektomi yapılarak kist eksize edildi. İki olguya da laminektomi ve kist eksizyonuna ilaveten posterior enstrümanlasyon ve füzyon uygulandı. Olgularda postop 3. ay ve 2. yılda, preop dönemdeki kök ağrısı ve aksiyel ağrı şiddetinin anlamlı azaldığı tespit edildi. Kök ağnamdaki azalma oranı aksiyel ağrıdan daha iyi olarak saptandı. Postop 2.yıldaki TDDS skoru preopa göre anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunurken, dejenerasyon ile yaş arasında istatiksel anlamlılık kurulamadı. Sinoviyal kist tanısıyla cerrahi tedavi uygulanan toplam 8 olguda, postop 2. yıl sonunda preop kök ağrısı ve aksiyel ağrının anlamlı azaldığı ve nüks sinoviyal kist ile karşılaşıimadığı saptandı. Ancak sİnoviya! kistin eksize edildiği seviyedeki "disk dejenerasyonun" uzun dönemde arttığı sonucuna varıldı.
