This study is based on my M.A thesis entitled “Cultural, Stylistic and Discursive Approach to a Translation Study within the Framework of Oulipo Techniques” and aims to describe the translations of oulipian texts written in the framework of Oulipo group. Raymond Queneau’s Exercices de Style is chosen as the object of study because it contains numerous oulipian techniques and reflects Oulipo’s aim of “combining literature and mathematics”. The book represents a good example of Oulipian techniques since it consists of 99 different styles and text types. In the article, starting from the question of “What are the decisions of the translator with regard to oulipian texts?”, the book’s stand-point at the translated culture and its probable effects are discussed. The study analyzes the Turkish translation of the book (translated to Turkish by Armağan Ekici in 2003) in the light of Popovic’s shifts of expression. In this context, Biçem Alıştırmaları has been studied in accordance with constitutive, individual, topical, negative and generic shifts as suggested by Popovic and while exposing the applied translation strategies, their contribution to the translation of oulipian texts has been discussed. In the study, it has been realized that in the translation of oulipian texts, which have no equivalence at the reference level of literature system in Turkey, the translators face a basic translation problem and therefore in Biçem Alıştırmaları, the translator being aware of the problem, has tried forms of coherency in his work.

Bu çalışma, Oulipo Teknikleri Çerçevesinde Bir Çeviri Çalışmasına Kültürel, Biçemsel Ve Söylemsel Yaklaşım adlı yüksek lisans tezimden hareketle hazırlanmıştır ve Oulipo metinlerinin çevirileri üzerine bir bakış açısı sunmayı hedeflemektedir. İnceleme nesnesi olarak, birçok oulipiyen tekniği barındırması ve Oulipo grubunun amacı olan “edebiyat ve matematiği birleştirmesi” açısından Raymond Queneau’nun Exercices de Style isimli kitabı seçilmiştir. Kitap, 99 farklı biçem ve metin türü içerdiğinden Oulipo tekniklerinin bir temsilcisi niteliğindedir. Makalede, “Çevirmenin Oulipo metinleri karşısında aldığı kararlar nelerdir” sorusundan yola çıkılarak eserin erek kültür ortamındaki konumu ve olası etkileri üzerinde düşünülmüştür. Çalışmada, Anton Popoviç’in deyiş kaydırmaları kavramı ışığında, 2003 yılında Armağan Ekici tarafından Türkçeye çevrilen eser incelenmektedir. Bu bağlamda Biçem Alıştırmaları, Popoviç’in önerdiği bireysel, bünyesel, olumsuz, konusal ve türsel kaydırmalara göre incelenmiş ve izlenen çeviri stratejilerine ışık tutulmaya çalışılarak, bu stratejilerin Oulipo metinlerinin çevirisine katkıları tartışılmıştır. Yapılan incelemede, Türkiye’de yazın dizgesinde referans düzeyinde karşılığı olmayan oulipyen metinlerin çevirisinde çevirmenlerin temel bir aktarım sorunuyla karşı karşıya olduğu ve Biçem Alıştırmaları kitabında çevirmenin bu boşluğun farkında bağdaştırıcı çözümlere gittiği saptanmıştır.
