Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
This in vitro study was conducted to investigate the effect of toothbrushing on the roughness of tooth-colored restorative materials. 60 discs (10 mm x 2 mm) were prepared with Prodigy (Kerr), Dyract (Dentsply, DeTrey), Vitremer (3M) and Ketac-Silver (ESPE). Surfaces of the specimens were polished with abrasive discs (Hawe-Neos) and 20 of these were used as controls. Surfaces of the rest of the specimens were brushed 10 minutes with electric toothbrush (Broun Oral-B Ultra Plaque Remover, D 9525) by using a slimy (25 g dentifrice in 40 ml water) of Colgate Total in Group 1 and Signal Plus Carbonate in Group 2. Surface roughness values were determined by using Surftest.402 Analyzer (Mitutoyo). One-way AN OVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests were performed for the statistical analysis. Based on the data of the study, it can be concluded; For both Ketac-Silver and Vitremer, significant differences in surface roughness were found between Colgate Total treated and control groups (p < 0.05). No statistically significant difference in surface roughness of Dyract was found between two toothpastes. For Prodigy, significantly rougher surfaces were obtained in Signal Plus Carbonate group (p <0.05).
