EVALUATION METHODS OF ORAL HEALTH QUALITY OF LIFE IN PROSTHETIC DENTISTRY

Abstract (2. Language):
Traditional measures of health outcomes do not capture the full impact of treatment on health status. The patient's point of view regarding satisfaction with care and health-related quality of life is increasingly recognized as an important outcome of care. This has led to the development of tools that are relevant in measuring these concepts. In Dentistry, as in other branches of Medicine, it has been recognised that objective measures of disease provide little insight into the impact of oral disorders on daily living and quality of life. This paper reviews the literature regarding the development and use of these oral health related QoL measures and includes an appraisal of future research needs in this area.
