Abstract (2. Language): 
It is important to remove bacterial plaque formation in order to prevent dental caries and interproksimal pathology. Even though brushing is important for oral hygiene if it's not performed well only tounge, cheek, palate and occlusal surfaces would be cleaned. There are several methods for cleaning interproksimal area. It's important to use appropraite instruments in a proper way to perform an exact oral hygiene. The aim of this study is to investigate the frequency of other instruments' use in addition to tooth brush in order to remove bacterial plaque. It's important to educate patients to achieve a better oral hygiene. We concluded that the frequency of interdental brush use regularly and effectively is higher between the patients who have periodontal and orthodontic treatment as a result of recieve a better education from dentists.

Diş yüzeyindeki bakteri plağının uzaklaştırılması diş çürüğünün önlenmesi ve ara yüz bölgesinin sağlığı için önemlidir. Dişlerin fırçalanması ağız hijyeni için çok önemli olsa da, yeterince uygulanmazsa sadece dil, yanak, damak ve çiğneyici yüzeylerin temizlenmesinde etki gösterir. Ara yüz bölgesinin temizlenmesi için çeşitli yöntemler mevcuttur. Doğru araçların uygun biçimde kullanılması, tam bir ağız hijyeni sağlanmasında önemlidir. Bu çalışmada toplumda, bakteri plağını ortadan kaldırmak için diş fırçası yanı sıra diğer yardımcı araçlann kullanım sıklığının araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Daha iyi bir ağız hijyeni oluşturulması için, hastaların bilgilendirilmesi çok önemlidir. Fakültemizde periodontal ve ortodontik tedavi gören hastaların, ara yüz bölgesinin temizliğinde, diş hekiminden eğitim aldıktan sonra, ara yüz fırçası kullanma konusunda daha bilinçli olduğu, düzenli ve etkin kullandığı ve bunun sonucunda hastaların ara yüz fırçası kullanma sıklığının daha yüksek olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
