A Comparative Research Relevant To The Place Of Media On The Political Information

Although it was found in various research carried out in America that American voters had little political knowledge, few researchers have discussed on its reasons. By analogy, if we say it, few researchers have argued about the reasons of much political knowledge, which has been found in some research carried out in Europe. This research aims to contribute the reasons of differences of political knowledge people have in different countries. This comparison is done by using the findings which have been recently carried out by 2 empiric research in America and Europe and those of my own master thesis. One of the empiric research is called "Political Knowledge in Comparative Perspective" (Dimock ve Popkin, 1997: 217-223); and the other is named "Millennium Project-phase-1 (National Association of Secretaries of State, 1999). The work having findings of master thesis İs called "The Place of Television on the Political Socialization of Children" (Öztürk, 2000).
