In this article, we focus on the difficulties that the press faced during the Republic Era, the limiting of the freedom of the press via constitutional regulations, and the laws that confine the freedom of the press. The history of the press, which is intermingled with political history of Turkey since the beginning years of the Republic, also fronts us as an index of the social changes. The freedom of the press, which has been interrupted several times, is an indication that the democracy has not been yet absorbed
