The pıtrpose of this paper is to explain the theory of '--Design of Experiment" ınethod and to conlrihule to ııse of it nıore commonly. Design of experiınent is a method, which is commonly used to increase mamtfactıtring cptality and to solve guality problems especially in large scale mamtfactıtring indııstries. İn the theoreticai part of the paper, the basic principl.es related to design of experiment is explained. After that, a guality problem in aıttomotive mamtfactıtring indıtstıy is hold and a solution to the problem is proposed by using experimental design method. ANOVA is used to analyze the data from the experiment, and at the end, response surface method is used l.o fırıd optimum solution to the problem. As a result, an important improvement is achieved on the chosen guality characleristic.

Bu çalışmada, üretim kalitesinin yükseltilmesi ve kaliteye ilişkin problemlerin çözülmesinde son zamanlarda etkin o/arak uygulanan deney tasarımı yönteminin faydalarını ortaya koyarak, yöntemin kullanımının yaygınlaşmasına katkıda bulunmak hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmanın teorik bölümünde, deney tasarımı yöntemine ilişkin temel prensipler açıklanmış, uygulama kısmında ise otomotiv yan sanayiinde faaliyet gösteren bir firmada karşılaşılan kaput tutma teli mukavemet problemi ele alınarak, bu probleme deney tasarımı yöntemi aracılığıyla bir çözüm önerisi sunulmuştur. Veri analiz yöntemi olarak ANOVA kullanılmış, optimum sonuçlara ulaşmak için Yanıt Yüzeyi Yöntemi kullanılarak çalışma sonlandırılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda, ele alınan kalite karakteristiği üzerinde önemli ölçüde iyileşme sağlandığı gözlenmiştir.
