LAND TAXATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

This topic was chosen shortly before I left to participate in a con¬ference, "International Seminar on Land Taxation, Land Tenure and Land Reform in Developing Countries", in Taiwan, Republic of China. My intention had been to bring the fruits of the papers and discussions there, supplemented by my own thoughts on the subject. Unquestionably, the conference was excellent. Yet it yielded less for this paper than I had expected.
