Fidanlıklarda uygulanan çeşitli üretim ve yetiştirme tekniklerinin esas amacı, dikim başarısı yüksek fidanlar elde etmektir. Bu tekniklerden birisi olan tepe budaması, özellikle dikimden sonra çevresel stres koşulları altında bulunan fidanların dikim başarısını artırmakta ve genel olarak, yapraklı türlerde iğne yapraklı türlere oranla daha başarılı sonuç vermektedir. Bu yazıda önce tepe budamasının tanımı yapılmış, sonra amacı, önemi, uygulanış şekli ve fidanların gelişimi üzerine olan etkileri, ilgili araştırma bulgularından yararlanılarak açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır.
