Son yıllarda toplumların ormanlardan talep ve beklentilerinde meydana gelen değişiklikler, çeşitli düzeylerdeki ormancılık eğitim ve öğretim programlarının da yeni gereksinimler doğrultusunda yeniden gözden geçirilmesini zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bu amaçla 2001 sonlarında Rabat'ta FAO önderliğinde yapılan "Ormancılık Öğretimi Uzmanlar Toplantısında üç gün boyunca bu konu üzerinde durulmuş, bazı öneriler ortaya konulmuştur. Bu yazıda, sözü edilen toplantıda öne sürülen çeşitli düşünceler özetle aktarılarak, konu ile ilgilenenlerin bilgisine sunulmuştur.
