In Turkey there are 7 natural Cotoneaster species but are not used in landscape design because of they are not cultivated yet. This study is aimed to discern and define the dendrological, horticultural and esthetic properties of imported Cotoneaster species that are mostly seen in Istanbul and its surrounding area by having literature knowledge and making observations. Knowing theseproperties of Cotoneaster taxpns will provide their truly usage in landscape design. This work includes, 6 Cotoneaster species and the name correction of variety, subspecies and imported cultivated forms of those species that have a great usage opportunity in landscape design and which are also found in the Istanbul University Faculty of Forestry Campus.

Bu çalışma, Türkiye'de doğal 7 türü yetişen, ancak kültüre alınmadığı için açık-yeşil alan düzenlemelerinde kullanılmayan dağmuşmulası ya da kotoneaster (Cotoneaster Medik.) cinsinin, İstanbul ve çevresinde en çok rastlanan ithal (aksonlarını, literatür bilgisi ve gözlemler ışığında dendrolojik, hortikültürel ve estetik özellikleri ile tanıtmayı ve ayırt etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Taksonların bu özelliklerinin bilinmesi, peyzaj düzenlemelerinde doğru kullanılmasını sağlayacaktır. Bir kısmı İstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi kampüsünde de bulunan ve peyzajda geniş kullanıma sahip 6 kotoneaster türü ile bunların varyete, alttür ve kültür formlarının isimlendirmelerinde (nomenclatur) yapılan düzeltmelere de çalışma kapsamında yer verilmektedir.
