A Research about Investigation of Eldely Consumers and their Buying Behaviours

Elderly population has been increasing in the World and in Turkey due to such factors as low rate of population growth, advances in health sector, low death rate, and increase in average life span. Target consumer mass of businesses is changing in accordance with the increase in elderly population. Business managers have to well foresight and well understand this change. The issue has not been suffic iently analyzed yet in Turkey whereas comprehens ive studies have been conducted about elderly market segment in the USA and in Europe. In this study, a survey was conducted on 500 people in order to find out the elderly consumers’ buying behaviour and data was analyzed via SPSS software program. Findings also indicate the priority that elderly consumers give to product and service groups vary across demographics.

Nüfus artis hizinin düsmesi, saglik alanindaki gelismeler, ölüm oranlarinin azalmasi ve ortalama yasam süresinin uzamasi gibi faktörlere bagli olarak Dünyada ve Türkiye’de yasli nüfus artmaktadir. Bu artisa paralel olarak is letmelerin de hedef tüketic i kitles i degismektedir. Isletme yönetic ilerinin bu degis imi iyi okumasi ve anlamasi gerekir. Özelikle ABD ve Avrupa’da yasli pazar bölümüne yönelik çok yönlü çalismalar yapilmaktadir. Ülkemizde ise bu pazara yönelik henüz ciddi anlamda çalismalar yapilmamaktadir. Bu çalisma ile, yas li tüketic ilerin satin alma davranislarinin belirlenmesine yönelik olarak 500 kisi ile anket yapilmis ve elde edilen sonuçlar SPSS paket programi ile analiz edilmistir. Yapilan analizler sonucunda yasli tüketic ilerin alisveris davranislari demografik özelliklerine göre degismektedir.
